What helps us respond faster
A few details speed everything up: your neighbourhood or the nearest crossroads, the approximate age of the roof if you know it, what you are seeing and roughly when it started, and whether an insurance claim is already open. None of these are required, but each one saves a round of back-and-forth before the inspection.
Photos taken from the ground are useful even when they are blurry or taken through a window. A shot of a ceiling stain, a shingle found in the yard, or a gutter pulling away from the fascia tells the crew what to expect and bring on the first visit.
What happens after you reach out
You will get a reply confirming the request and proposing a window for the inspection. After a widespread storm, that window may run a few days out simply because the whole area calls at once and the schedule works through requests in order.
At the inspection, the roof and attic get walked together, findings are photographed, and the written scope follows shortly after, usually within a couple of business days, listing each task with its material and sequence.
Active leaks
If water is actively coming through a ceiling right now, say so in the first line of your message. Active leaks move to the front of the schedule for a temporary dry-in, which stops the water with a tarp or a patch until the permanent repair can be done properly.
While waiting, move furniture and electronics away from the drip, place a bucket underneath it, and if the ceiling is visibly bulging, a small controlled hole at the lowest point lets the trapped water drain rather than collapsing the whole section later.
